NEWS RELEASE: California High-Speed Rail Authority Launches Online Resources for Southern California Community Open Houses

Jun 3 2020 | Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) launched a new online web portal for the Burbank to Los Angeles project section. The new resource is an attempt to help the public better understand the Burbank to Los Angeles Draft Environmental Document, released May 29, 2020. The document is another project-level Draft Environmental Document into Southern California, studying the route along the approximately 14-mile Burbank to Los Angeles Project Section from a new Burbank Airport Station in Burbank to the existing Los Angeles Union Station in Los Angeles.

The new online web portal, linked on the Authority’s homepage (www.hsr.ca.gov) will remain up for the duration of the public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIR/EIS). In addition, due to the social distancing and shelter-in-place requirements, Authority staff will use this portal to conduct the following online open house to answer questions from members of the public:

  • Online Community Open House: June 18 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Beginning May 29, the public can submit comments on the Burbank to Los Angeles Draft EIR/EIS the following ways:

Attn: Burbank to Los Angeles Draft EIR/EIS
California High-Speed Rail Authority
355 S. Grand Avenue, Suite 2050
Los Angeles, CA 90071

  • Via oral comment at the Burbank to Los Angeles Public Hearing:
July 8, 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Log on at www.hsr.ca.gov

After the comment period closes on Thursday, July 16, 2020 and the comments received have been evaluated, staff will prepare and issue the Final EIR/EIS document and present it to the Board to consider certification and project approval under CEQA and NEPA.
