Gilroy

The Gilroy station will be the high-speed rail system’s hub for Southern Santa Clara County and include connections to coastal communities on the Monterey Peninsula.

Project Section

This station community is part of the San José to Merced project section.

Location

The two station locations that are currently being considered by the Authority are:

  • Downtown at the existing Caltrain station on Monterey Street between 7th & 9th Streets
  • East Gilroy, off Leavesley Road

In 2019, the Authority Board of Directors identified the downtown station location as the preferred alternative for the Draft EIR/EIS.

Status

The Authority and the City continue to collaborate on planning efforts around the future high-speed rail station. The planning and environmental process, which will determine both station location and the alignment for the San José to Merced project section is underway. Environmental clearance is anticipated in early 2022.
