PHOTO RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Recognizes Summer Graduates of Central Valley Training Center
SELMA, Calif. – Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) recognized 11 students who completed the Central Valley Training Center’s 12-week, pre-apprenticeship program at a graduation ceremony at the Selma Arts Center. The pre-apprenticeship training program is aimed at serving veterans, at-risk young adults, minority, and low-income populations in the Central Valley. The no-cost program provides hands-on construction industry training for those looking to work on the nation’s first high-speed rail project.

NEWS RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Authority Receives $20 Million From Federal Government to Revitalize Historic Fresno Train Depot

FRESNO, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) today released a video celebrating Fresno State’s first annual K-12 Railroad Model Competition. The video highlights enthusiastic elementary, middle, and high-school students from the Central Valley as they designed railroad track models, created operation plans and delivered presentations on their work as it relates to California’s rich rail history for a competition spanning two semesters.

NEWS RELEASE: California High-Speed Rail Authority Named Employer of Year by International Women in Transportation Organization
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) has received the 2023 WTS Recognition Award – Employer of the Year from the international chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). The recognition caps a series of regional “Employer of the Year” awards for the Authority by the Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area WTS chapters over the past 18 months. The Authority was recognized for exemplary efforts to encourage advancement of women’s careers in the transportation sector, which historically has predominantly employed men.

PHOTO RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Completes Signature Structure in City of Fresno
The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in collaboration with Tutor-Perini/Zachry/Parsons, today announced the completion of the Cedar Viaduct in Fresno. The 3,700-foot viaduct will take trains travelling at 200-plus mph over State Route (SR) 99, Cedar and North avenues. “At almost three-quarters of a mile long, the Cedar Viaduct is one of our largest and most visible structures across the alignment and one of the significant achievements to date on the program,” said Central Valley Regional Director Garth Fernandez. “The completion of this structure was made possible by our dedicated project team and by the numerous women and men in Labor who brought the project to life.”

PHOTO RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Recognizes Latest Graduates of Central Valley Training Center
SELMA, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority today recognized 14 students who completed the Central Valley Training Center’s 12-week, pre-apprenticeship program in Selma. Since the start of the training center in 2020, 123 students have graduated, with more than 1,000 inquiring about the program. The pre-apprenticeship training program is aimed at serving veterans, at-risk young adults, minority and low-income populations in the Central Valley. The no-cost program provides hands-on construction industry training for those looking to work on the nation’s first high-speed rail project.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – As California continues to lead the way in sustainability, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is recognizing Earth Day by highlighting continued progress in delivering the most advanced, green and equitable transportation system in the country. “We’re creating the largest and greenest infrastructure project in the nation, a true electrified high-speed rail system capable of speeds at over 200 mph and powered by 100% renewable energy,” said Margaret Cederoth, Director of Planning and Sustainability for the Authority. “We have the unique opportunity to propel California into a cleaner future in our ambitious pursuit of carbon neutral objectives.”

NEWS RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Authority Receives Excellence Award for Advancing Diversity and Social Change
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority has been recognized by the American Planning Association’s California – Northern Section with the 2023 Excellence Award for Advancing Diversity and Social Change in Honor of Paul Davidoff, an urban planner who pioneered inclusionary zoning. The recognition is for high-speed rail’s San Jose to Merced Project Section, Environmental Justice Community Improvement Planning and Engagement Process.
